mud dobbers filled up my speedometer hole on the lower unit, took a pick tried to clean it out but could'nt get it all so i disconnected the rubber hose between the lower unit and the mid unit and was using compressed air to blow it out(not such a great idea) while doing this the rubber hose blew off the fitting down in the lower unit! how hard is it to drop the unit so i can stick it back on?

a 20 min job tops.

very easy to do. get a book. basically you take all the bolts in the lower unit out drop it and fix the problem then bolt it back up.
there are 2 bolts by the trim tab one is hidden by the trimtab.

I assume you have a v6 motor?

when you put it on, put your thottle in reverse( just pull it back a little to engage, dont like pull all the way back) this way when you try to put it all the way on you can turn your prop shaft with a wrench so your splines will line up. make sure your lower unit is in reverse too. hope you can make sense of this, i have done tons of L.U s
