I keep hearing about swimbaits on this board and their success so I thought I would try to create a "swimbait fly". A threadfin shad seemed like a good idea. The fly is bulky but light and completely translucent when wet. A ball of red yarn is tied behind the eyes to imitate gills which can be seen once wet. The prototypes were tied on 1/0 ss mustads. The top material on this fly will lay down when wet. I tested it in the pool and was happy with action. Can't wait to try it out! Thanks all. I get tons of great info from you guys be it about boats, maintenance, fishing, etc., and super entertainment!

Very nice! What is the feather used for the side? Looks good. Now you gotta name 'em, so when I order some, I get just that. Can't wait for a pic of a 5lber with one in the corner of it's mouth.

be sure to try them at canyo nthere is thread fin in there!or is this not a thrreadin shad,idk i found it dieing s i grabbed it and took a pic

Thanks for the kudos and not ignoring a fly guy that wants to target bass. I can make that fly as big as you want but a 3 inch shad is as big as you want. The cheek feather is key. It is Mallard Flank. Scaled and translucent. I lead weight the shank to get it it deep quick.

Dude, please! Learn to spell or take the time to spell correctly.
I know people on here have been giving you major sh!t, but damn you are giving them boat loads of ammunition to shoot at you.
If you want to be respected, then take the time to put together a coherent thought and then type it correctly.
I know you are either in school or just barely out, use some of the English grammar you were taught.

Dude those are cool just out of curiosity how would you fish those just twitch em around or a slow retrieve. I know nothing of fly fishing; so I have know idea.
