Switched from Saguaro to Canyon Lake 11/28

Fished Canyon today from about 10:30 to 5:00 p.m. with Whod101 (Dale). After stopping at ramp 2 at Saguaro around 9-9:30 a.m. this morning and witnessing howling winds and high waves, we realized that launching at ramp 2 at Saguaro would not be safe. (One 2004 Bass Tracker washed up on the rocks by ramp 2 and sustained 2 big dents to the bottom of his brand new boat). Talked with Josh and Mike and met Tadmo for the first time. It was nice seeing you guys again. So Dale and I went to Canyon instead. Launching was no problem at all as the last ramp was protected. Still windy, but plenty of areas to get out of the wind. Only caught 2 fish (1 yellow bass and 1 smallie) on a Kastmaster and jerk bait, respectively. We fished everything from top to bottom but never put together a pattern. However, it really was a nice, refreshing day out on the water with great company (thanks Dale). It was a good move to leave Saguaro and go to Canyon. Now we'll have to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to catch the bass for next time! 8)

Dale, a.k.a. Whod101, I'm glad we didn't pass on fishing Canyon today after standing at ramp 2 at Saguaro and seeing those waves crashing into the ramp and all those white caps on the lake. I think the windsock helped out today too, which was a lesson learned for us. It took the teeth out of the wind for where we used it. Maybe the fish were in 50-70 feet of water? Who knows? 8)
Hey Rookie Boy, sorry to hear about your back. Mine's been sore for a few weeks but not because of fishing. Glad to see you caught some fish though and that you found them aggressive. I've seen my share of big waves on Okeechobee and it's no fun running in 4, 5, 6 foot waves in a bassboat.
