Does anyone use a swivel on their rig when spooning? I haven't before but wish I'd have had one yesterday. I put on fresh 8# P-Line CX Friday night. I experienced more line twist than ever yesterday. It got to a point where my line ended up breaking about 5' above the lure. I was simply jigging and one time on the pull - snap! There was so much twist the abrasion got so bad it snapped the line. I've never had that happen. If any of you use swivels on your rigs 1)how high up do you tie the swivel on and 2)what type/size of swivel is best :?:
Luckily, Jim, snagged my lost line about 20 minutes later and got my lure back :!: If that wasn't an amazing enough feat we also hooked into the same catfish yesterday

I don't get much if any line twist jigging/casting a 1/4 or 3/8 oz Kastmaster. But on bigger heavier spoons like Hopkins or Crippled Herrings I use a swivel snap combo. Use the smallest one you can get away with.

Swivel

Yeah go with a swivel thats got the ball bearing and the snap..I dont remember what they are called. It will kill the line twist. Attatch it to a split ring if there isnt one already on your spoon. Line twist sucks!

Thanks for the responses. I used different line this morning and didn't have near the problems I did Saturday although I still experienced some (and I was mostly using a bigger spoon this time - 1/2oz.) I'll get the small snap swivel and try it out.
