Ive been thinking about the Loomis fish skeleton on my forearm, underside. That would be my first.

American, you also might talk to tattooWes. One of his friends had some really cool drawings of bass. I even considered having one of them done as my first.

if you ate truly interested in some tattoo work and you can get the artwork let me know size, location, and at least a rough draft or final image and i can at least get you a quote. been tattooing for close to 6 years and 4+ of them professionally. currently not in a shop but have spent plenty of time in them, everything is still new and/or autoclaved still. if you want to see some pics of my work let me know and i can post them up, i just didn't want to hijack the thread right off hand.
