Tourneys on Saguaro

I was out there earlier this week and am wondering why are none of the local circuits having tourneys on Saguaro?

The bite is really good there are plenty of fish and lots of good ones too. I have been seeing reports of guys catching 40 fish all 12-13 inches but I think the "all the fish were small" part is bs.

When I was out there on Tuesday we caught 70+ fish in 5 hours with 15-20 that were over the slot limit. Probably had 10 fish over 3 pounds, several over 4 and the big fish was right at 7. Our best five were over 22 pounds... I think its time to start holding some derbies on that lake. Maybe the sag **** would be pissed but phuck them the UAAF has been collecting money from tournament anglers to improve their lakes we should be able to have tournaments on them.

I would be up for a sag tournament.
Yeah dude I wish the directors of the local circuits would put it on the schedule but there arent any listed for the 2010 schedule. I know the UAAF queers would do their best to to stop them from getting a permit so maybe that has something to do with it? I say if they are taking money from the "fish fund" option at MBC and ABA then they should have no problem with a couple tourneys on canyon or saguaro...

I agree...

Ever since moving here, I wondered why they didn't have tournys on sag or Canyon for that matter.

I think sag would be great for a oct/nov tournament.

Didn't WON bass use to hold tournaments out here? What happen to them?

Yeah WON did have a circuit out here for a couple years maybe 05-06 but its been a while.... Not sure why they stopped but from what I remember they werent drawing many boats for the AZ team circuit. They normally have a pro-am on Pleasant but did not have one this year. It says lake TBD for January on the 2010 schedule so I have my fingers crossed on that one...
The reason there are no tournys on sag or canyon with the exception of small club tournies( and sag didnt allow it for a while on weekends). was due to boat restrictions, set by the forrest service for those 2 lakes.

If I remember correctly sag was 20-25 max and canyon was 30-35 max for a schedualed event. IN the late 90s early 2000 sag put a hold on touries for the clubs ie weekends vanyon had a limit on on organised events weekends.

some of the old federation tourn directors could probally answer it much better.

Most tourneys are only getting 20-25 boats max right now anyway so that shouldnt be much of a problem. ABA will pay out over 2k for first place with 20 boats, same with allstar. They just need to allow early registration and cap it wherever the max is...
Del I am sure you remeber this post where you expressed concern over no more tournaments on those lakes.

I also remember reading somewhere that the UAAF had asked local circuits not to hold tournaments on apache, canyon, saguaro but I can not remember where it was that I read it...
70+fish..wow thats badass what techniques..Drop shot?
Sounds like a road trip. Step up there Webby. We still have a month or Two of summer.Hmm last time i fished Sag, I don't think there was a slot? But never fished a T there.
Saguaro BassMasters is having a tournament at Saguaro Lake this month. This is the second one we've had there this year.
Chandlerbass is having one tonight.

I know there are club tourneys there but I am not going to join a club just to fish a little tourney on Sag. I was talking about the local team circuits...

Thanks to a few guys , it's just a matter of time before there having striper tournys at saguaro to tone down the striper population

Yeah most of the fish were caught on dropshot...

Unless you have fished it this year then last time you fished it there was no slot. It took effect Jan 1.... If someone was to put together a roadtrip I would hit it up. We were fishing in the morning so I am not sure what the night bite is like...
Dude if we tried to do a road trip it would have to be hush-hush....those UAAF homos would try to get all of us fined for having a event w/no permit....it's been done before...I think the fine is like $2500....

It can be done though....I've done them before and know what to do....

Got that shit right.

Hell while your at it you guys might as well have it during the day time so there is a higher fish mortatily. That way you can have a bass fry afterwards like we used to do in the early 80's

Is that a real waterdog or a plastic pour? If that's a pour, I'll take a dozen of those!!
Why would a T director hold a tournament where he had to cap the number of boats to 20, or maybe 25? Isn't the goal to increase your particpant numbers for a director? This lake is starting to come back, but it's not even close to what it was 10 years ago. Slap a T on that 1000 surface acre lake every weekend and see how long it lasts. A couple club T's now and then
