Does anyone know what is wrong when the motor can be lowered but wond go back up? Someone told me it was an electric motor. Is this true? Hard or expensive to change? I havent had any time to look at it at all, just thought I would ask so I have and idea of what to look for when I get a chance.

Thanks for any help!!!

power trim

I recently had this problem only my trim would work going down but not up. My trim electrical system has 2 relays; one for up and one for down. I purchased a new up relay for about thirteen bucks after I had first checked all the connections going into the relays. Problem solved.

Swap your relays. One is for up, the other is for down. After you swap them, if your motor tilts up but not down, then it's the relay. You can find them at any marine dealer. It's an easy problem to shoot and fix. Good luck!

If you find that the trouble was your relay you might consider changing your battery a weak or to small a battery can cause the relays to fail. I had the same trouble and after changing batterys have not had any problem since. At least thats what i was told seemed to work
