oh my lord yes a 24vlt is kick ass compared to my 40lbs thrust minnkota,my skeeter just flat out scoots with a 24vlt 74 lbs thrust ,i fish in the wind on 40 percent its so powerful!
trolling motor issues
I have a minn kota maxxum hand control . Its 55 lbs of thrust and 12 volts.
Over the weekend the prop shaft came out about 2in. I pushed it back in and it pops right back out. Not sure if this is something I can fix or if I should just look for a new motor.
I really have no problem looking for a new motor but i have some questions. If i buy a new one then I want to get a 70lb thrust. Is 24v that noticably better than 12v. I know anything over 55lb is gonna be 24v. Is there a better brand. Motor guide or minn kota. I don't really like the foot control ones because of how slow they steer so I would probably be looking into another hand control. That is unless you guys can point me to a good foot control one. Any comments from you guys as to what you have used or use would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking at them at various stores online and can't really decide what I should go with.
forgot to add one more question. When charging your batteries on a 24v system do you have to use a different kind of charger or can I charge the batteries with a regular 12v charger?

Not sure about the shaft issue. Not sure which brand is better. I do know if you have room for a 24volt go for it. Much better!!! I grew up on Minn Kota but my tracker has a motor guide and I have had no issues. I also know this didn't help at all!
