I was under the impression that tungsten is being used in weights because not only is it more dense than lead but because it was safer, I guess that is not the case don't eat your sinkers.

The data concerning the toxicity of tungsten is limited, but cases of intoxication by tungsten compounds are known, the lethal dose is estimated to be between 500 mg/kg and 5 g/kg for humans.[35][36]seizure and renal failure with acute tubular necrosis.[37][38][39] Tungsten is known to generate
The effects of tungsten within the environment are essentially unknown, a concern that has arisen in response to increasingly widespread use of the material as a fishing sinker, some of which are inevitably lost into water bodies. The same unknown variable applies whenever tungsten may be deposited into the environment, either knowingly or inadvertently.[40

Don't eat tungsten. You'd have to ingest 20+ grams of tungsten.

Everything is lethal at certain doses.

20+ grams isn't THAT much.. I recall from my past that 7 grams = 1/4 oz, 8 if you're lucky. So don't swallow a 3/4 az weight when lubing up your rig with spit.

Everything is toxic at certain levels, just don't chow down on tungsten anytime soon and you'll be alright.

I was actually thinking what if your kids got a hold of em little ones have kind of a habit of eating things they shouldn't not that its any safer to eat lead or even a crankbait.

I was actually looking into what it would take to produce your own weights but tungsten has a melting point of like 5000 degrees so I don't think it's possible for the do it your selfer.
