Using striper as bait at pleasant not allowed

After my last post for pleasant stripermike commented that he didn't think you were allowed to use the striper meat as bait and he is right Franklin did post something about it before. I called the G&FD to see what the rules and regulations were on the matter. One of the representatives said that on page 54 of the handbook you may not use any other fish besides bluegill as bait. So besides your normal bait fish and bluegill you can'not use them as bait. The fine begins at $75 and can get higher from there depending on the cercumstances.

It's obvious don't use a game fish to catch a game fish.

I don't think it's that obvious, there's no limit on them. I know there a game fish if I think about it, but seems an easy miconception when every other game fish has a limit and not them. You can take as many home as you want but you can't throw the guts on a hook to catch a catfish or something,... that don't make any sense to me... therefore seems like a logical assumption you could use them as bait! But what the hell do I know, maybe obvious to everyone else!

Yea dude stripers make awesome catfish bait....just gut them and cut them into strips...

When it comes to G&F I dont think they knew what to do w/ stripers.........

SOME WONE JUST HAD TO ASK ABOUT IT NOW WE CANT ACT IGNOANT LIKE WE DIDNT KNOW ANY BETTER WHEN YOU GET CAUGHT
You are allowed to make your own "bait" and use it at the lake such as stink bait, dough balls etc. If you wish to use legally caught stripers for bait I suggest getting a little creative in how you use them. Since it's illegal to waste game meat I would think there's a legal method there somewhere.

+1 - Definitely agree.
I've seen that live shad work great for catching stripers, but, of course, live shad aren't game fish.

What does that mean? Does anyone have the exact wording of the law, I'm curious what "illegal to waste game meat" entails.
Who uses stinkbaits/dead baits anyway?

No offence but ignorance doesnt get you by to break the law, and I dont think they will let you slide on ignorance ;)

You can't catch a striper and kill it and throw it back in the lake that is illegal! Wich I've personally seen people do!
