Vicious Fluoro

I am in need of re-spooling atleast half a dozen rods and was thinking of trying a different Fluoro. How does Vicious stand up? I've used Trilene 100% Fluoro, Yo-zuri(sux don't use), and a couple others. I'm going to be needing some 10# and 6# for some spinning and casting reels. What do you all think of Vicious Fluoro?

I wasnt impressed with it. Lots of memory, real stiff and didnt last long. For the price you can respool more often without going broke but I would stick with higher quality stuff, you cant beat sunline IMO...
You get what you pay for. There is a reason its cheap.
Wrong!!! In my opinion Vicious is as good as Seagar Invisx, i tried Triliene 100% it is to stiff and has to much memory, Vicious can handle all conditions that roosevelt can dish out, i have yet to lose a fish, i have it on my reels for 6 months now and still going strong. What line you use is still personal preference, just like rods and reels....
I tried it, and have a large spool you can have if you pay for ship. It blows. Try red label seaguar.

I was on a trip with Forrest when i tried out vicious and that shit SUCKS! he watch me snap shit off on casts, setting the hook, reeling in fish. i was impressed the 1st time i took it out then it turned into shit instantly on the second trip.its on the stiff side as well and does have some memory to it. i keep all my rods inside never in the sun unless in the boat. I wouldn't have ever waster my time or money on it again. WORST line i have EVER bought. go with sun line. you wont be disappointed.

+1
i got some from adam, i like it. i am a big fan of seaguar, and would say its comparable. i also have yet to break off a fish as well. and i am using 8 lb. on spinning reel. put a 4lb in the boat no prob. imo its not bad
Vicious is very strong line, you boys may need to work on your fluorocarbon knots (Either that or you got some of the early line they produced which did have breakage issues. Vicious knew about the bad batch and replaced it for free once you notified them about it). I was using 15lb and 20lb vicious up at Falcon and had no problems ripping 5lbers out of the trees. I have fished with sunline (still do for some applications) and it is the best handling FC line on the market but vicious does make a good product for the budget shopper (although as some have mentioned it is a stiff line).
The Vicious line that I tried was not smooth felt rough and had flat spots.I sent it back and the replacement spool was the same.In a word JUNK thats why its cheap. Also when it comes to fluorocarbon line you will find that there are as many people that think the line they use is the best as there are fluorocarbon lines on the market.I am convinced that you just have to try them yourself to find what you like. For me it Berkley 100%
im one those who like the vicous f.c. ...i love the invisx and its my first choice but the vicous is good also
Thankz everyone for your input, I will try it myself and see how it is.
Just an FYI to all: there was a huge thread on this subject a year or so ago. Bottom line is that Vicious prematurely released the fluorocarbon a couple of years ago. There were major issues with the quality. The first batch was ridiculously bad. It never should have been released. You could easily break it with your hands, hooksets, etc. As a result, they changed raw material manufacturers, hired a chemist, and redesigned and re-released it as it should have been the first time. Therefore, subsequent batches have been awesome.

This is why you get so many different opinions on the line. It comes down to which batch you received.

As far as the "you get what you pay for" comment. Please keep in mind that Vicious is a 100% AMERICAN company which means all their line is made in the USA. Most other fluorocarbons come from Japan, which, as a result, are heavily taxed with import fees. (the same reason Japanese lures, sunline, etc. are so expensive)
Is there a way to tell if the batch I have is the bad one? And, key question, if they know they had a problem with the batch, do they stand behind their product, and would they swap out my bad spool, for an updated one?
Thanks Stack, I did not know about bad batch (F.C.), i just know what i got is good, bought some back in Feb in Florida, like it ever since.... (15lb line)

MAGS,
Yes, they did stand behind their product. They replaced the line for many anglers and any dealers that reported the problem got all of their line replaced at no charge. However, that was over a year ago so I am not sure if they will still do it.

I do not think there is an easy way to tell which batch you received. All I know is that if you buy it now from any major dealer/ tackle shop it is definitley the "good stuff". For example, Tackle Warehouse, Cabelas, Sports Authority, Dicks, etc.
The original spools didn't have a bar code with a number all the new batches that I have seen have a bar code a some number above it. But if you have bought your line within the last 8 months to a year I doubt you have a bad batch. This issue came up and quick and Vicious took care of it pretty quick.
the vicious i bought was only like 3 months ago. the shit sucked balls. never again. ill stick to my bad ass Japanese engineered and produced line and pay the import fees and taxes.
Start with the best. Stop the searching and spending foolishly...Seaguar Carbon Pro.
