I think I have my wife just about talked into leting me get a new truck. I'm kid of a Chevy guy but I've heard good things of the new Powerstroke. I would appreciate any info from diesal owners about performance, satisfaction and reliabilty and gas millage.

If I do get her talked into it, I'll be selling a 2000 Chevy Pewter in color, Silverado LS 2 wheel drive shortbed extended cab. 5.3
V-8, auto, loaded with tow package. This truck is well maintanced with only 43,000 miles. I'd make someone a good deal. I know the dealers would try to get it for nothing. I don't know what its worth but I'd would think some where around 14,000 to 16,000.

I have a power stroke and I love it. The Duramax to me was quieter then the ford but there's going to be some noise. I found also that Lou Grubb gave the best deals! Good luck

Hi Don,

I guess I'm kinda biassed here but here's my take on the diesels.

I did a lot of research and found that as far as diesel durability goes they are all pretty good. I would have preferred a Cummins diesel, but I didn't like the new Dodge body style. The Duramax is an Isuzu motor. Isuzu has made diesel motors for years, but I'd still rather have an American made diesel motor. Chevy also has an independent front suspension with their 4x4's and I hate changing CV boots on the axles (major pain in the @ss).

I read a lot of stories about the Ford vs. Dodge and Chevy. They had all kinds of competitions pulling and not pulling loads. Speed and torque, you name it. Ford beat all of the competition. It's not like they left the other guys standing still, but it still looked good for getting the better of the three if a Ford was what you wanted.

Check out www.thedieselstop.com they will answer any questions you might have and it is the only honest site out there! Yes, there are some with bugs in them, but any new motor will have problems when coming out for the first time. I think you will get a trouble free awesome truck just like me!

I love my truck and there's nothing out there I can't pull. It's a joy to drive and has a very comfortable ride. You can try mine any time if you like. Just let me know or PM me and you can give it a whirl and tell me what you think.

Good luck!

John

Before you hit a dealer check out carsdirect.com, I bought a Tundra through them and it was the sweetest deal I have ever done, no crap at all and saved some money.

Also if you are a Costco member, don't forget to try them out too! One very important thing if you are serious about buying a PSD. Go to www.thedieselstop.com and look in the "order" section. Look for a fleet salesman by the name of "Cochise" out of Houston Texas or "Bobby Williams" out of California. They will do their darnedest to get you a truck through the "X" plan or as close as they can to it. The "X"plan is for folks who work for "Ford Friendly" companies. If your company buys lot's of Ford vehicles you might already be eligible. You might want to check this out at the PD. I'll bet P.V. drives a lot of Crown Vic's.

I almost bought my truck through Cochise, but then remembered about a future Bro in law that sells Fords. You can't go wrong with these guys!

Oh, by the way. How's it going Amberjack? Long time no post/talk to!

I owned a dodge for 9 years with a cummins in it. The thing really ate brakes and was not that good at pulling off the line. you had to wait for the turbo to kick in for it to have any power. i now own a 02 GMC with the duramax in it. it makes the dodge look sick. it has more power than i know what to do with. the allison transmission is amazing. fuel economy is about 17 unloaded and 15 loaded with a 21 foot ranger and no hill will slow me down to the point the cruise control will kick off of 75. the ride is better than a dodge and a ford. i have drove them all.
