What makes them tick?

I just watched a National Geographic program investigating the claims made by conspiracy theory folks calling themselves "Truthers".

The evidence supporting what the 911 commission reported as what took place is overwhelming and has been backed by numerous tests.

So my question is: What makes them tick? What motivates them to disregard the obvious, the credible, the logical and embrace these fantasy tales? Too many sci-fi flicks? Or maybe it was an OD on James Bond movies?

The same thing that drives those that believe Oswald was a patsy and the CIA shot JFK, or the Holocost was overblown or faked, or that OK bombing was actually done by a large conspiracy, not two knuckleheads and a ryder truck.

I think some folks have a hard time wrapping their brains around the fact that sometimes the most incredibly horrid things can in fact be done by a small group of dedicated radicals. It has happened throughout world history, and sometimes the simplest answers are the correct ones.
I have friends that are all about that " 9/11 was a hoax " stuff. They argue that the way the beams were broken in the buildings and the way that the metal melted was not possible unless there was some sort of bomb attached to them because jet fuel and fire were not enough of an accelerant, or hot enough burning, to do such a thing. Anyone ever see that Michael Moore movie about 9/11? Alot of fecal matter in that too. I think there was definitely some hush hush stuff probably going on with that whole ordeal, but to the extent that the " truthers " say... Probably not.

In other words you also have some buddy's without any common sense or rational thought. It's a rampant plague in today's society and we all know some of these types.

The problem is they seem to breed faster than intelligent folks.

AND THE BIG QUESTION
did man really walk the mooN?
I DONT THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BLUFF CALL AGAINST THE RUSSIANS
Well they like to think outside the box and there's nothing wrong with that, it's just that in this case it's pretty ridiculous. The thing they always fail to see is the overwhelming evidence of what ACTUALLY happened. One of those guys actually thinks that the planes didn't hit the building. Needless to say I laugh in his face and call him a worthless retard every time he brings it up.

well we all know that the "Moon Walk" was shot in a back lot studio at Paramount, an Niel Armstrong was really a grand night in the Illuminati......
must not forget, these are no longer "TERRORISTS, TERRORIST ACTS, OR RADICALS." these are all just manmade disasters. any koolaid drinker that can swallow that is no longer worth the breath to talk to. nothing will ever make sense to them. like jesus we must dust even the sand on our shoes, know what i mean... sad to see people with blinders so shut they see nothing, i mean face reality here, we all have blinders in some sort of way, but to be so closed minded to even wanna try to open up. it is just sad. i heard a girl on the radio talking about religion not being able to be talked about in school(wtf). but she brought up a very valid point. she demonstrated how being democrat or republican can be religion in that you are taking a stand for something you beleive in and debating it or sharing it. she is right. more brains in that girl than some in our state. ok i'm done with my 2 cents BLAST AWAY!

I would have to agree with the girl you heard on the radio, religion should absolutely be kept out of schools. It shouldn't be something that is forced upon you, or that you are subjected to at a young age when you are so easily influenced.

BT would you consider Charles Manson as a "Truther". I've been watching the History channel and they were breaking down this killings. The people that followed him and obeyed his orders. How could anyone accept his ideas and commit murder like they did.

What made these people tick. I rememebr people where I grew up were scared to death of this person and his people when the killings happened. And they had every right to be.

BTW he is one sick POS and I think all his followers should have been executed.

Bob,

No, definitely don't think Manson was a Truther....he's a psychopatic lunatic....and perhaps the epitome of the modern day tweeker!

think you mis understood me on that one. i think it should be. what she was saying was that politics in one sense is like religion and if you cant have religion then you shouldnt have politics as well. and i agree with her, it kinda is the same. you say it shouldnt be forced but its not. and also teachers tend to force own beleifs about politics on there students, or at least some of mine did. if they can discuss religion in a non forcing way just like they do politics, then why not?
after all the bible is more than a book, and is the oldest history book around

Yep, I have an old friend that argued with me for 2 hours about 911 being an inside job, had to be thermite, building 5 is his crux. Funny thing is he smokes a lot of pot. :Iconrotfl:Iconrotfl

I know that's what you meant. I agree too that there shouldn't be any politics as well, unless you are taking a class that pertains to it. Unfortunately with a thing like religion and politics where every one has different beliefs, and where it changes over time by people adding and removing things, making stuff up, etc... I don't think something unstable as that would be beneficial at all. And you mean to tell me that if there was a christian teacher just talking about religion that they wouldn't push some of their beliefs off on the little kids?? That's where there are bible schools for.
