My brother and I go a few times a year. Havasu, martinez, now add Parker to the list.
Martinez is about 3 hrs, try to go during the week because the weekends are hazardous to say the least. At least during the summer.Sometimes the fishing is tough but we always see cool stuff, bobcats, mtn lions. beavers( the real ones and occasionaly the other kind as well).
Well I'll tell you what I like about it. I like that I fish mid week so I don't have to deal with too much other boat traffic, and never have to worry about any one fishing in front of me. Plus lots of cover, current, backwaters, plus it lets you use a variety of different types of lures and presentations.
What I dont like is that their is not a lot of smallmouth action in this area unless you hit Parker,Blythe.

Mountain lions? Man I'm still waiting for that one. I do see a few sheep every now and then.
We love that place (Yuma). We go every year. It's about a 5 hour trip for us. We always go durning the week!! The fishing is great but more importantly you feel like you can catch a fish (hogs too) on every cast. There is so much hidden little back waters and areas to fish. It would take years to figure out that place. That's what's so great. It's an adventure every time.

If memory serves, that's Del's favorite place in AZ? Anyways, I would do the trip. You will love it.

+1
No joke. Watch out for the sandbars. Man they are dangerous and they move. Always bring a big light if you are fishing at night and don't open it up if you don't know those waters
