Another way to prevent this from happening is taking the "all" the rubber and plastics out of the boat and keep them at room temperature inside the house. I also include my rods and reels to prevent my lines from weakening or dryrotting. This especially in the spring, summer, and fall. Don't take them out of the bags unless you're ready to use them (worms, lizards,grubs etc.)
