I have seen the fly's that tie and think your very talented, i have been wrapping flys for over 30 years myself, have you ever got into any old school Atlantic salmon flys? about all i tie now are for tailwater trout fishing
Hovcobwater, This fly has 2 clam weights on the shank. Cast and rip. It pushes a lot of water and creates a ruckuss. Then let it sink! Salmon flies, no. I'm an east coast saltwater fly guy. Blues, stripers, kings, tarpon, barracuda, bones, permit, shark, etc. Living out here I too find myself tying tailwater flies for 16 - 24" trout. Rather catch a pike!
Dude that is a great looking popper!!!! I haven't been doing much flyfishing any more I really wanna get back into it and get some strippers. 2 months ago I was at the Verde flyfishing for Carp. They're the next best thing to bone fish.
