WTF is wrong with todays "parents"?

When I got home today I jumped on the bike I've been building to make a quick run to the store for some last minute dinner items and park it in a normal spot about 10 spaces out from the handicapped spots. As I'm walking out with a my chit I see a few people hanging around looking at it up close. No biggie, it's a little strange looking right now since its not finished. When I get closer I see a teenager sitting on my bike with the side stand up and i came un-friggin-glued! Then the dumb chit decides he needs to get off and doesn't put the side stand down so with the forks still locked the bike goes over and knocks his dad down in the process. First time in a long time I had my fist doubled and ready for war right there and then. They all ran to their car with me in pursuit and hauled ass while I took down their plate number. Cops took the report but said with the minimal damage done and only me as the witness there was little that could be done to them. Who in the hell would just walk up to someones bike and toss a leg over to see how it feels? I've never had a bad temper but had I been armed I think I would have shot one of them. Still shaking from the adrenaline.

That is completely ****ed up, I was at a BBQ a couple of weekends ago and had my 2 year old Grandson running around he was looking at all the bikes there and just yelling BIKE BIKE and finally I had to ask this guy if my grandson could have a seat. He said no problem and picked him up and sat him down, my grandson went ape shit crazy. It was real nice of this guy who did not know me to let my grandson sit on his bike. But never would I have allowed him to touch it much less sit on it without permission first. That is just ****ED UP.
WOW!!! talk about total disrespect for other peoples sh!t!!! i would have f-n flipped had it been my bike!!! i don't blame you for being pissed.
My guess is their father didn't teach them about the outdoors.... As a kid I never would have done that, nor would any of the kids I am around now...

I recently even had some kid ask me to buy beer for him. I told him no, but later disappointed in myself, should have took the $20 and continued to walk to my truck telling him its a "learning experience"... That's another thing; when I was a kid, I knew how to get beer, not sit outside the store and ask any old stranger to buy it for me; and then I would be responsible about consuming it...

Brainpower, arrogance, lack of respect, whatever it is, there are many less "Utes" getting it today...

Sorry to hear of your bike and even more so that nothing could be done even when you had their plate... At the same time, that is just criminal; one could always try to take them to small claims court for a civil matter...

cause the cops wont take the time to go out fnd the people and say something to them, no accountability on anyones part.
now if you would have gotten into a fight or altercation with them it would have been your ass which totally sucks

I get that if some stupid kid was over-stepping his boundries but with his dad there. My dad would have sent me home with the guy to do all repairs and offer labor until the entire bike was finished and thats just the half of it...

Needless to say I would never even think of it.
Just to add insult to injury have you ever tried to stand up a 400lb, lifted bike by yourself when pissed that has the forks locked and tranny in neutral? I learned that I can't do it and only kept laying it back down until I talked a cart boy into helping out. I paid him ten bucks for the help so his day was made. He got a hell of a story, a good chuckle and $10.
Oh BTW, don’t now get all half cocked whenever someone is around your bike. By 3 year old boy LOVES motorcycles, and if he scans the parking lot, I have no choice but to let him go see it. BUT, he knows never to touch, let alone sit on it.

So, for my safety, don’t pull the Glock out until you verify your target!!!

This is the perfect point; not so much the kids fault when the parents aren't the ones teaching them respect.

Dr.6, my father would have; uh, and I will do the same thing by having them work it off... But, then this takes us back to my original point of our parents teaching us about the outdoors, and hence having respect...
I do not thing it is just respect and the outdoors, it is respect across the board. Pull my truck into a grocery store and come out and find a used diaper in the bed, beer can or cig butt. I don't have kids, don't drink and do not smoke. Same issue where I live, some guy walking his dog and lets it crap in my yard and walks off. Dog don't know better but the idiot on the leash acts like it is no big deal.

There was a time when parents were concerned about the image their children presented in public.

You always hear the excuse kids will be kids and you too were once a kid too. Yea but if I said that or done that I knew what the payment would be, a bar of soap in my mouth or a belt broken across my butt. Neither of which I ever learned to enjoy.
I dont know what kind of bike it is, but what if had been a Hells Angels bike? or Mongols? There would have been blood shed.
Dude thats messed up...what a piece of shit kid+and parent

Dude thats why rolling around armed is gay.......someone will do some stupid shit, you'll end up blasting them because your pissed and go to jail.....

Dude I know it's stupid(And I'm stupid), but if I was in that situation I might have drawn on them....f-that

+ getting the dogshit beat out of me

you obviously don't live in my neighborhood or travel the city of phx between 11pm and 5am.
What is lacking w/ parents these days THE SPANKING!! My boy knows what the spanking is and would never disrespect any one, or there property. I cant count the times I've been out to eat or in a store, and seen a kid or kids acting crazy and the parent dos'nt do any thing about it, but try to bribe them to stop w/ something that the kid wants. If my kid acts like that he knows the only thing he will get is a swat on the back side, but he also knows that when he behaves him self he's more oppted to get rewarded

Its also in the bible to spank your kids that meens people have been doing it for a long ass time so it must work.
Pull my truck into a grocery store and come out and find a used diaper in the bed, beer can or cig butt.
Some jackass tossed a cigarette butt in the bed of my truck at Wally World - come out of the store and see smoke coming from the bed of the truck (uh oh!), run out there and find my bag of dirty laundry smoldering. Put out fire, go back into store and purchase a new wardrobe (replace all four outfits and one stolen motel towel), come out and find that someone has helped themselves to the laundry soap I had purchased previously.

This leads to two possible conclusions:

1) People are assbags in general.

-OR-

2) Some people will put together elaborate schemes to get a free bottle of cheap laundry detergent.

It can be tough. Especially if its all the way over, but there is a trick if you can get it part way up. You put your ass against the seat and lift with your legs.

My wife could lift her 680 pound Road Glide that way before she had a surgery and was told to never lift anything over 10 lbs again. She never actually dropped it or layed it down. I set it over on the engine guard so she could see if she could do it if she had to. Her Fatboy was easier since it was a lot lower to the ground.

We believe in lay down bars in our family. LOL.

Obviously every situation is different.
Bob-that sucks! Dad should have got his ass beat good then he could get even with the kid. I understand picking up a bike, did that with a couple of Harleys. Hope you can buff out the damage.

fredo Franklins black so it wouldn't matter everyone thinks he is armed anyhow ;)

This is funnier than shit
not laughling about your truck bed burning just the rest

We have that problem with Anthony, he is a motorcycle fool, everyone he sees he runs up to it and checks it out very closely and asks anyone around if he can get on it.
Luckly the boy desnt just jump on them however he knows he would get his ass beat if he did.
I feel weird when he wants to look at bikes in the parkng lots I try to keep him a ways from the bikes , I mean your upclose and looking at it and your kinda too close for comfort , I know if my bike was arked and I saw a bunch of people standing next to it I would get a little upset about it.

Kids do have a fasination with bikes but most don't touch they just look.
