Lawmakers Approve Bill Allowing Guns in Bars

It would require bar and restaurant owners who want to ban weapons to post a sign next to their liquor license. Drinking while carrying a weapon would be illegal.
By Associated Press
PHOENIX (AP) _ The Arizona Senate has approved a bill to allow people with concealed weapons permits to carry a gun into a business that serves alcohol.

The 19-8 vote completes Legislative action on the bill and sends it to Gov. Jan Brewer.

The measure has pitted powerful groups representing gun and bar owners against each other.

It would require bar and restaurant owners who want to ban weapons to post a sign next to their liquor license. Drinking while carrying a weapon would be illegal.

Opponents have said mixing guns and alcohol could cause violence, but supporters argue that people should be able to protect themselves at businesses that serve alcohol.

WTF - If I'm drinking a Bud Light at the camp site with a gun on my hip that would be illegal?

F that!

No that's not illegal. only illegal to carry into an establishment that serves alcohol.

That'd be nice if it passed. It sucks when you can't carry into just about any restraunt because they serve.

I say **** Al Sharpten...... but I was talking to a guy at work and he was saying that they want to make it so anyone can carry concealed without a permit.... Not to sure about that one

Can I ask why? I am just trying to find out if there is something I didnt think of as to why it wouldnt be a good idea. as I could change my mind and not support a bill like that. so far I havent seen any reason as a bad thing for carrying conceled and not having a conceled permit.

I like the idea.... When I said not to sure about that. I meant I was not sure if this has been brought up or not. Has anyone else heard about the gov't trying to pass this law?

I've heard about it over the last few months, but the only thing I have heard was the negitive side of it, how this group doesnt like it and that group doesnt like it etc etc but they are groups mainly anti gun groups and a select few LEO groups.
They are always saying that it would hurt cops etc etc in these issues people always like to use cops and kids as examples. what what they fail to to satisfy is the real reasoning as in my opinion there isnt any as a law abiding citizen wont cause any problems.

the only problem I can see as far as negitivity if such a thing was to come true is that prosecuters would have one less charge to charge a criminal with.

for example if someone robs a store at gun point theres a whole list of charges filed all in just in case a plea is worked out or something goes wrong with one part of it, this way they get you one something. if this would pass then they wouldnt be able to use carrying a conceled weapon as another charge on someone. but thats the only thing I can think of .

LL's no income deal is also another reason why they dont want it to pass.

Any bangers you know been taking the class? The second amendment applies to every citizen with a few good exceptions like felonies and mental illness. Anyone can own a gun and carry open or in a glove box now so why not allow those same people to be able to put their weapon in a tackle bag, purse or pants if they need to move it from their vehicle? I have taken three classes and every one had a couple of people who passed but had issues on the range. This deal is no different than when we passed CCW with a bunch of opponents claiming the sky would fall. Still up there.

in the 70s the NRA hunters ed class's taught how to use and carry a firearm, they spent very little time on what animals are what. The used LIVE situations with guns not a bunch of dumb ass pictures with senerios and what ifs. They actually flunked People by the way they acted with a firearm, flat out kicked there ass out of class and not to return.
They taught you how to disassemble and clean your firearm and everyone elses firearm as well, they brought in pistols, rifles shotguns muzzle loaders military rifles etc etc

we all had to bring our own firearms, if we didnt have one they loaned one to us.
it was kinda like a boot camp. we went over and over and over the shit out in the football feild. then we learned about animals and what and when to shoot, next day same thng 10-20 of us walking side by side with firearms. the guy would throw up a basketball and the people would have to point there guns at it, if you were on the far end and it wasnt safe to and you did you got into trouble for unsafe gun handling.
The hunters ad class's now are not bad but there basic, they dont flunk people for making mistakes ( wish they would). Remember if you make a mistake with a fire arm Someone gets hurt, unlike a class were you just get pecker slapped.

all gun class's should be based off the ones IN Japan, they dont dick around.
after the initial gun safety class you have a book of every bird and animal in Japan, and you are tested on it, if you dont get a percentage correct on any of it you flunk and you wont be able to hunt. NO if's an's or Butt's about it your done till the next year.
I believe the class was 1- 2 weeks long 12 hours a day.

If I remember tonight I will ask my Dad when I go see him. he passed it with 90% and I believe he had the lowest score of everyone that took the class. he was also one of the very few that could legally own ( have in possesion) a Centerfire firearm and take it off base.

I took my hunters safety class in port orchird washington in 1977 ? the 1st month after we moved back to the states from Japan, I was not legally allowed to hunt in japan or carry a firearm as I was under 21 unless I was on base.

The rod and gun club on the base in Japan also had class's I spent days on the skeet range before they let me shoot. I was 6-7 when I started shooting skeet and I was 8 when I started shooting competitively and I kicked ass for a punk kid LOL
I shot at some Japanese Skeet and trap ranges and they were very strict, The guys at the gun club had to pull some strings in order to get me to shoot, I had to be very careful not to screw up.
when your trained at a young age it sticks with you. as you get older and start hunting with others you dont trust anyone with a fire arm.
There are very few people I would ever go hunting with cause of the way they handle firearms and the way the act when a fire arm is in there possesion or they see an animal and all common sence is lost.
